NIGHT DRIVE
Though they’re both based in Texas, Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon  first met in Mexico City at a midnight screening of the Panos Cosmatos film “Beyond The Black Rainbow”. Bonding over their love of the movie’s visual imagery and synth soundscapes, they soon discovered that they were both musicians whose previous bands had just dissolved. Through this serendipity, Night Drive was born.

On a whim, they went to a tarot reader and asked about the future of their band. She told them that they would find the "third member" within 2 years.

“Nick didn't join until 3 years later,” Rodney explains, “so she needs to brush up on her skills!” Nick Dudek was the final piece of the machine, and the current incarnation of Night Drive was officially set into orbit.

The upcoming album, Position II, is the 2nd in a series of EPs whose name was actually based on a dream.

“I had this dream that our band was called ‘The Positions’,” Brandon explained. “Since we’d already established ourselves as Night Drive, we had the idea to release a group of EPs named ‘Position I’, ‘Position II’, etc, which would ultimately culminate into a compilation album of the same name".

Recorded mostly in EaDo Houston, this group of songs was a reflection of the unusual modern times we're living in, with themes of uncertainty, longing, hope and discovery throughout.

From the hypnotic synth-dance opener "Digital Flower", the alluring post-punk vibes of "Summerwaves" and "White Lights", to the intense urgency of "Vultures" and "Cover Your Eyes", the journey is set in bold dark colors. Closing out with the somber, dreamlike "Space Station" that somehow feels detached and deeply personal at the same time. It's a voyage, albeit 22 minutes long.

For mixing Position II, the band turned to seasoned producer Philip Broussard out of LA, who’s worked as right-hand-man to giants in the industry such as Rick Rubin.

“He’s worked in so many genres and styles and has an insane amount of experience under his belt, which was obviously very appealing,” Rodney said, “So we flew to LA and spent a weekend in some underground bunker in Venice, just chilling and talking music, and once we discovered his personal taste really meshed with our sort of ‘post-punk blend of synth-pop’, well at that point we were totally sold.” Position II drops Aug 4th.

Inspired by sci-fi cinematic landscapes, Night Drive creates modern synth-pop that explores the darker currents of abstract emotion. Infectious melodies wrapped in expressive lyrics with pulsing dance beats unveil a stylish, energetic sound that has been featured in film, tv and radio around the world. Touring with international bands such as Crystal Castles, Ladytron, CHVRCHES, Austra and The Psychedelic Furs, Night Drive has garnered a reputation as a captivating, must see live show.
