LA CHICA

One side of the ocean is Latin America, intense and mystical land. On the other side, there is Paris, Belleville, multicultural, urban and modern land. Through her music, La Chica reunites those two worlds by proposing a collage of sound textures, borrowed from her cultural heritage and various modern influences, by breaking the established codes. It’s around the piano and keyboards that her universe got built, skillfully mixing her classical inspirations (such as her love for Debussy) with the depth of aerial layers of analog synth. Unhidden, the french-venezuelian conveys raw emotions, between abstract thoughts and poetical introspection.

LA LOBA

This new album from “La Chica”, “La Loba” is dedicated to her late brother. It is an intimate, sincere opus, filled with magic and rituals. Through these songs, she expresses the first stage of her new learning of life in the absence of a loved one. She goes through different emotional stages such as anger, infinite sorrow, utmost love, enlightenment.

First, in “3”, she directly addresses her brother, asking him how life is on the other side, and searching for a way for their energies to unite in order to spread the seeds of tomorrow. Then, in “Agua”, she sings a ritual to the river, so that she carries with her stream her grief and her pain, then she awakes her wrath to illustrate the powerful nature of women, the awakening of the “witches” and the change to come in “La Loba

As the songs pass, her pain evolves.

She goes back on her track “Drink”, a song for the deads which finds here a new depth, and that she approaches more naturally, soothingly, looking for a spiritual connection through the trance of sounds, of music.

Finally, “Sol” is a release point in which she discharges all her suffering and turns it into strength, leaving her liberated from her own pain and armed to break the chains that might hold her brother on this earth, and allow him to rise away freely in “Hoy

In the current context where everything is sanitized, where the weight of social networks asks for an illusory perfection, in a burning world, it seemed essential to convey her emotions in a true and authentic way.

It is therefore on purpose that we find some recording “defects”, La Chica having favored voice takes where her interpretation is natural and imperfect.
