Fears

On March 22, Dublin-born and London-based interdisciplinary artist Fears will release her highly anticipated
second full-length release – affinity via TULLE. affinity is available to pre-order now digitally as well as black vinyl and limited edition marbled pink vinyl.

Fears, the artist, musician and producer Constance Keane, has shared “4th of the 1st,” the first single to be released from affinity, and its accompanying music video. The video highlights the trust and bond that can be found in sisterhood, directed and edited by Fears and filmed by Colleen Lee, it is a depiction of how women proactively signal to other women in solidarity, information that could be important for their safety. "4th of the 1st" is available now on all streaming platforms for any playlist shares.

Fears’ hauntingly beautiful vocals are paired with her sparse production style in perfect harmony on “4th of the 1st”. Over electronic inflections, this ethereal latest offering is the balm to the wounds left from a phone call she had on that day in 2022, she says “It’s about checking in with yourself and reassuring yourself after an experience with someone who denies what you know to be true of your time together.” At a time where there is a growing awareness of the complexities of modern day dating from attachment theories and a deeper understanding of identifying red flags, It’s an experience that will resonate with many listeners. Fears adds, “I think it’s unfortunately a pretty common thing to have someone tell you how much they’re into you and then decide that they actually never said that when they’ve changed their mind. I’ve experienced it a few times anyway, so I wanted to write a song for myself to say “no you DID actually say that, I didn’t make it up”.

Following her critically acclaimed 2021 debut album Oíche that landed in the UK vinyl album charts, Fears has crafted 10 self-produced tracks that make up affinity. Drawing on human connection, intimacy, and
moments of peace in a city, she combines reflective electronics, acoustic samples, and stirring vocals with organic visuals, blurring the boundaries between music and visual art. Her minimalist yet striking approach centres on emotive subjects which are all-at-once deeply personal yet remarkably universal. Written and recorded between London, New York,
and Dublin, affinity is a melancholy and at times playful exploration of the relationship
between Fears’ physical surroundings and the work she creates.

Fears has received acclaim across the world, with her music being covered by i-D, The Sunday Times, Noisey, Huck Magazine, BBC Arts and more with her debut album Oíche being named as one of The Guardian Readers' Top Albums of 2021, CLASH Magazine's Top Albums of 2021, and the Irish Independent's Top Irish Albums of 2021. Gaining a reputation for immersive live shows, she has gone on to perform at Eurosonic, SXSW, Other Voices, Body & Soul, Quarter Block Party, Ireland Music Week, and more.

Further cementing herself as one of Ireland’s greatest creatives right now,  Fears is also  a founding member of critically acclaimed feminist punk band M(h)aol and her fashion design has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italia, The Sunday Independent, Irish Country Magazine, STELLAR Magazine, and more.
