DESERT MAMBAS
Desert Mambas, the new project from Foxx Bodies guitarist Bailey Moses, is a refreshing voice emanating from a fortuitous oasis; a name bestowed onto Moses by a forgotten stranger in a booth at a lost Waffle House. A cosmic origin from which all things grand and vital can trace themselves back to, that carries with it an triumphant opening salvo in their debut EP …But It’s a Dry Heat.

With years in their pocket as a key member of the Los Angeles-based Foxx Bodies, Desert Mambas is Moses finding space with which to honor the journey that has delivered them here. Working through stage fright and a cursed show that left the singer-guitarist with a split chin, …But It’s a Dy Heat is a celebration of all that thrives in the bones and spirit of every inch of Desert Mambas.

As Moses says, “it's about celebrating trans joy and expressing a lot of things that I held back for so long and really feeling like I have the courage to say now”.

Over four songs, freewheeling hits that move through your heart like an endless summer breeze, Desert Mambas soothes the weariest of souls and the stoutest of spirits. These are songs not just of working through the trepidation and thrill of Moses’s own transness, but also of a reconciliation of the past, love letters to an Arizona home that the singer has left behind, craving love despite knowing it comes with sharp teeth and dealing with transphobia in a Home Depot.

Masterful songs painted with shades of the classics of country, roots and generations of singer-songwriters …It’s a Dry Heat bursts with unforgettable odes to queer and trans lives as a beating heart driving the rhythm of the earth beneath our feet, announcing the arrival of Desert Mambas as the revitalizing shock to the soul that we all deserve.
